Crop availability depends greatly on the weather. Crop maturity can occur as many as two weeks before the expected arrival at Market or crops could be two weeks late coming to market in cool, wet years. Use our “What’s In Season” pages for vegetables and fruits to see when you can expect your favourites to arrive at market.

Knowing where your food comes from is important. To find out the hometown of your favourite vendor, look up their profile under our Vendor profile pages. Vendors are categorized by the main type of product they sell on market. Having a variety of products at the market is important to us, but our top priority is sourcing the best produce available in the Kawarthas and Ontario.

Have a question about our vendors, how to cook what you bought at market, have a request for a product that you think we should have at the market, or a suggestion for how we could make the Market better? We would love to hear from you. Click here to get in contact with us.

Some weeks we have space to accommodate special interest groups or Buskers at the market. These cases are addressed on a first come, first served basis. Arrangements should be made well in advance as the day of the market are really busy and many of the Board members have stands on the market and are busy at this time. Please send us an email detailing the nature of your request, date, and purpose. If your request is granted approval, fees are due upon arrival and must be paid before setting up your location.

To become a vendor at the Peterborough Farmers’ Market, applicants must complete a vendor application form.  All vendor application forms must be submitted in person to the Market Manager, Brenda McAdam, during Market Hours Saturdays from 7am – 12:30pm. Vendor applications are available on-line or from Brenda McAdamSuccessful applicants will be contacted based on the needs of the market.  Successful applicants will also be required to sign a Non Violence/Harassment Declaration as well as a vendor code of conduct declaration.

PDFMA signage identifying the product/produce of origin is enforced at all times.

The signage program is designed to be all-inclusive – meaning that Vendors must participate, from the farmer, wine maker, artisan, baker, Chef, to the crafters and others.   Kawartha Choice Farm Fresh, Foodland Ontario and MyPick signs are permitted.  Please refer to the Market News Tab for more information on the PDFMA Unique Product Identifier sign program.  All items sold must be listed on the application and must be approved by the board prior to sale and 100% Ontario grown or sourced by the vendor.

All vendors wishing to rent space must complete an application, with FULL PAYMENT via cheque, certified cheque or bank draft, certifications, insurance or insurance waiver.  Insurance waiver forms are available from Brenda McAdam, Market Manager.

Payment must be made payable to PDFMA by cheque, certified cheque or bank draft and submitted to the Market Manager with your application.  Cash payments OR postdated cheques will NOT BE ACCEPTED.  Applicants/Vendors are responsible for NSF bank charges currently at $50.00 per cheque.

Applications submitted that do not follow the above guidelines, will not be accepted and returned.  Applicants will be required to then re-submit their application for further review and consideration.  Submitting an incomplete application may result in the possibility of not being able to participate as a vendor at the market.

The Market Manager in consultation with the Board of Directors determines which products on a vendor’s application can and cannot be sold on the Market premises. Selling additional items not listed on your application renders your application null and void and you therefore forfeit the right to sell at the Peterborough Farmers’ Market. You will be notified in writing if your application / or your new products have not been approved and/or in violation with this policy.

The Peterborough Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from 7 AM to 1 PM. Rain or Shine (except when Christmas Day falls on Saturday).
