Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I know what is in season?
Crop availability depends greatly on the weather. Crop maturity can occur as many as two weeks before the expected arrival at Market or crops could be two weeks late coming to market in cool, wet years. Use our "What's In Season" pages for vegetables and fruits to see when you can expect your favourites to arrive at market.

How can I find out more about where the vendors on your market are from?
Knowing where your food comes from is important. To find out the hometown of your favourite vendor, look up their profile under our Merchants page. Vendors are categorized by the main type of product they sell on market. Having a variety of products at the market is important to us, but our top priority is sourcing the best local produce available in the Peterborough area.

Have a question about the market but I'm not sure who to ask.
Have a question about our vendors, how to cook what you bought at market, have a request for a product that you think we should have at the market, or a suggestion for how we could make the Market better? We would love to hear from you. Click here to get in contact with us.

I'm a Busker or a special interest group that would like to set up at the market for one day.
Some weeks we have space to accommodate special interest groups or Buskers at the market. These cases are addressed on a first come, first served basis. Arrangements should be made well in advance as the day of the market are really busy and many of the Board members have stands on the market and are busy at this time. Please send us an email detailing the nature of your request, date, and purpose. If your request is granted approval, fees are due upon arrival and must be paid before setting up your location.

How Do I Become a Market Vendor?
To become a vendor at the Peterborough Farmers' Market you must complete a vendor application form. All vendor application forms must be obtained from the Market Clerk, Brenda McAdam, during Market Hours. Vendor applications are NOT emailed or available online. All items sold must be listed on the application and must be approved by the board prior to sale. All items offered for sale should be made and/or grown by the vendor. Copies of Health Unit inspections must be submitted for any applicant selling prepared food. The Board may request further documentation at anytime to assure compliance with the Market Vendor Regulations. All general inquires regarding availability should be directed to the Market Clerk or a Board Member. Stall space and areas of need are constantly changing and therefore applications are continually accepted, however, only successful applicants will be contacted. Applications are kept of file for one year.
